A Gonic woman is free on $50,000 personal recognizance bail after being arraigned on felony charges alleging she embezzled approximately $80,000 from the law firm she worked for as a legal secretary.

Authorities say Desiree McLoughlin began stealing from a Port City personal injury attorney when she wrote checks to herself and others over a period that ran from April 2005 until September 2008.
