Rise in personal injury claims creates law jobs
A SURGE in personal injury claims has sparked a recruitment drive at solicitor Askews, which is looking to create about 40 jobs in two years.
The family practice, which employs 65 people in Redcar and Thornaby, is opening a base in Middlesbrough this year after “huge growth” of work.
Personal injury cases generate 70% of revenue at the practice, which starts its recruitment with three fee-earners, three litigation administrators, a receptionist, office junior and a cashier.
The injury division’s growth allows Askews to avoid redundancies in conveyancing, hit by the property slump. Five staff have moved into litigation.
Managing partner Simon Askew said: “In a period of daily job loss announcements, we are fortunate in being able to redeploy people from less busy areas of law.
